“Walking is the great adventure, the first meditation, a practice of heartiness and soul primary to humankind. Walking is the exact balance between spirit and humility.”

The Journey

Manifesto

It will be of no surprise to scholars of pedestrianism that this publishing outpost was conceived per boot. Whilst I learned to walk as a toddler, as a means of survival, it was only in my middle years did I begin my study in walking. It is an unusual indulgence, but one that is shared by many. They are the Order Of Walkers. Walking keeps me tethered to a simple life. It offers a social element when community beckons and a solitary element to energise. It’s a reminder of our origins and indeed what it is to be human.

The study will be a slow and thoughtful enterprise. The simple art of walking is a springboard to many other pursuits, and so, like a circuitous route I shall go there, and then return.

Whilst my wandering is Australian, my work does not have borders.

This manifesto may seem unfinished. More walking has been prescribed.

Sacraments

An Order Of Walkers sacrament is a rite recognized as of particular importance and significance. In the guiding principles of the Order Of Walkers, the sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, by which divine pedestrianism is dispensed to us. The Order affirms that the sacraments are necessary for an enhanced experience. Through each of them, the walker will receive a sacrament’s particular healing and transforming grace, making them participants in the divine nature through union with flora, fauna and mankind.

Mercantile

The Order Of Walkers is an ancient congregation who foster and maintain the human motor skill of perambulation. We understand the profits of the activity and tap into the spiritual offerings. We cast an untrusting eye over those in society who would have us enslaved to a sedentary digital world.
